“Thank the Gods he is on our side!” –Rammos, 6th Lieutenant
Mantus the Enduring he is named, for there was no ready traditional name available for his unique abilities. Enduring was chosen as it had the same style as the other titles in the Aquari armies, but everyone knows him as Mantus the Unbreakable.
They say Mantus can fight all day, they say he does not even sweat in that armour he wears. He is the finest defender ever known in the Aquari-Esteri histories. Mantus is called unbreakable because he can go toe-to-toe with anyone, and then another, and then another, all in immediate succession. Patience and toughness are the points of focus for Mantus, who can take a beating like no one else can. With a tall, curved shield, a short blade, and armour from top to bottom (heavy armour for ancient times, remember it is not medieval fantasy), he lets his opponent do the attacking, waiting for older men to tire and younger men to frustrate themselves. That is the strategy for unworthy, that is. Like the other ten of The Eleven, he usually does not need to use his full arsenal.
When Mantus moves on the offensive it is a scary sight. Getting hit with his shield is like sprinting into a stone wall, and he moves with an energy that seems impossible after the damage he should have taken when he was defending. Although he is better known for his defence, the relentless nature of his attacks and lack of fatigue during battle equally earn him the name of the Enduring. How can one hope to defeat such a man?
